There are so many things I wish I had a gift for.

Making people truely laugh is one of them. Sure I can spread a good yarn every now and then and get a good chuckle, but to make them all out laugh until tears are flowing I don't have it.

Take this new blog I started reading, www.thebloggess.com I was in tears, my friends were in tears, my friends' parents were in tears. It was hilarious. Mainly because of her straightforward take on life. And the fact that her life reminds me of my own. Mostly her relationship with her husband and her friends. Not so much the crazy part. HA!

I have always said that I wish I could make my husband laugh as much as his sister does. The two of them get together and he has tears rolling down his face he's laughing so hard. Something I've never been able to do for him. Roles reversed, I have laughed until my insides hurt the next day from his hilarity.

Maybe one day I can have that ability, but until then I'll have to satisfied with the amount of laughter I can drum up.

There are some days I just don't understand.

I don't understand how you have to chew your breath before you take it.

I don't understand how a pregnant woman such as myself is effected so much more by it than other regular people.

I mean seriously, do we not have enough on our plates with the whole gestation thing that we have to be sensitive to temperatures too? My feet ache, my back hurts, I can't keep food down, smells throw me off... and let's top all that off with a slight change in pressure/temperature/humidity.. and I'm MIS_ER_A_BLE.

I don't like to complain outwardly, so that's where blogging comes in. I will complain and not feel guilty. LOL

But not much, because the guilt has a tendancy of creeping in.

6 weeks left before baby dude is here and I am SO ready! :)

I want a vacation

I want a vacation.

I want to escape from my life for a couple days and just enjoy life with no responsibilites. No responsibiltiy to make sure those around me are having fun, etc.

I feel like I'm having a miniature pity party, which is probably partially true. Pre Baby blues? More than likely. I look around my house surrounded by the stuff essential to make this new little person's life comfortable. And I realize I have no room. I have boxes and tubs of clothes sitting around. I have laundry that is clean and dirty sitting in piles around me.

I have projects begging to be done in my dining room. Dresses for my daughter to be sewn. Fabulous bags needing to be made up as they are for trade for yet more stuff that I'm getting from my mother. I have an entire homeschool classroom in my dining room as well that I had great and grand hopes to revamp and redo this summer so it would be fun and fresh for this fall. I know the summer is young, but I had expected to get started somewhat already.

My kitchen is a mess. My bedroom is a mess. My newest son's place in this world is non exsistant. I have to completely re-do my daugher's closet of a room before I can even HOPE to make room for the baby dude.

And the motivation to do everything?

Nonexsistant.

What am I wanting? A vacation. An out of preggo body experience. With no responsibilities and no demands. No, "Mama, can you clip my nails?".. No, "Mama come wipe my butt."... No, "Mama I have an owie."...

Don't get me wrong. I wouldn't change an nth of my life, for the world on a silver platter.... but tonight... I wish I could escape my responsibilites for a day, then come back to reality and realize everything has fallen into place.

For anybody following. Pregnancy is still hunky dorey. Little boy is rockin' the womb, littelry, and I'm feeling decent most of the time.

However unlimited amounts of THIS crap is acceptable...

I Am Not a Chef

Recently on Facebook a friend of mine suggested I should try to get on the show "Chopped".

I am not a chef.

I have never claimed to be a chef.

After a conversation with another friend we both agreed that putting good food on a plate and having people enjoy it, is enough for us.

Being able to admit that we know not everything and yet having those special few people we call when we need a cooking question answered is a huge thing for us.

I am lucky enough to have 2 chefs in my family. Trained, schooled Chefs, not just people who cook well and "claim" to be a chef.

I also have a friend who is a baking queen and can pretty much answer almost any baking question.

I just want to say Bravo to those of you who are Chefs... I apprecaite you, all you do, the hard work you put in, and I would never claim to be one of you... I wouldn't want to be. Mainly because I'd pay money for schooling and then have to work a job to pay off my debt. Both of which would take me away from my kids.

Thank you very much, but I'll experiement here and there, and still never be able to compete with my children's love for the blue box mac and cheese with hot dogs and corn.

Springtime

Me thinks the Groundhog was mistaken.

Last year, at this very time, I was outside with my children, snapping pictures of them playing in the yard with only sweatshirts for warmth. The ground was no longer mucky, they could play on their big plastic bicycles, they could dig in the dirt.

This year however, it is too chilly for said activities.

Not really, we were outside yesterday. But the whole no mucky and digging in the dirt will have to wait.

I still have snow bordering my lawn and what's left of the igloo is mucky and slick.

I think that the groundhog should be sued, or at the very least, his handlers.

Pregnancy

For anybody remotely following me here in cyberspace, you may have recalled that I am pregnant.

Yeah, I have yet another munchkin kicking my spleen.

I'm loving every minute of it.

But in all perfect honesty, there isnt' a day that goes by that I'm not worried.

I will be so ecstatic to hold a wriggling little bundle of joy and not worry on a daily basis if I will carry this child to term.

I lost a baby in September of '09

Shortly thereafter I watched the Movie "Up"

I will never watch that movie again.

It hit entirely too close to home.

I was about 1/3 of the way along when everything went to pot last time.

I'm over halfway now and I should be fine.

But inevitably.

Even though I'm not looking for it.

I hear stories of mother's losing thier babies late, in pregnancy.

I'm scared.

I'm overanalyzing every day when I haven't felt the baby go active for a while.

I know that I should be fine.

Every pregnancy is different

But this one scares me.

I have a Dr.'s appointment next Monday.

The following Monday I have another ultra sound to see if my low lying placenta has corrected itself.

I'm looking forward to seeing my little papoose invitro again.

But I'm even more looking forward to July 30th. :)

Letting Go

Today my sister in law is supposed to come and help me clean house.

This is a huge step for me.

I'm kind of controlling.

But with recent developments that include "restricted activities"

I can't do as much as I need to.

Also I have company coming next weekend I don't want them thinking I'm a slob.

I'm hoping to have my house somewhat in order by Wednesday.

But to top off the self pity I've been feeling...

I'm working my butt off today trying to get stuff accomplished while I feel well and am not horking up every small thing I've eaten.

I'm getting stuff done.

I accomplished laundry soap and new laundry fabric softner.

I was supposed to work on biscotti. It may still happen.

*Especially since NCIS isn't on today.* I find that when it's NOT on, that more gets done, quite the concept.

NCIS isn't evil, it's just a better use of my time than my motherly duties....

Yesterday was Cyber Monday:

I bought more stuff online.

My mother had no blue and silver Christmas stockings for her beautiful Christmas party.... so I accomodated her.

Then today....

I bought more.

My husband said do not buy me anything for Christmas.

He's currently up to about 9 packages under the tree and another on tis way... but DUDE.

Seriously.

62$ Shoes... for 18 bucks with free shipping.

How can I pass that up? Seriously?

So now I shall don the cone of shame and have a dove chocolate to console myself...

I really need to stop the madness.

So my mother has lost sleep.

I don't say this lightly.

She woke up in a cold sweat, 2:30 a.m. worrying about her party.

I can't help but giggle.

I'm so sorry she's so stressed over it.

I thrive at parties.

I love parties.

I love to host parties.

I love to cater parties.

I keep thinking I get that from my mom.

I will find out after December 14th.

I ordered her silver table clothes from Kohls.

I ordered her suprise center pieces from Kohls.

I really hope she loves all I ordered her from Kohls.

I love Kohls.

August was hot.

My birfday was in October.

I got to go paintballing.

Now we're into November.

It's almost Thanksgiving.

Which also means it's almost Black Friday.

And almost time for me to decorate my house for Christmas.

I love this season.

I'm going to try to post a few ramblings here and there more often. Especially now that my introvert mother is hosting a Christmas Party.

She's not an introvert. Not really.

She's obsessive compulsive and "matchy matchy"

She has a "theme" every year for Christmas.

I'm not kidding.

Everything matches.

I'm laughing at this becuase a friend of hers (for the past 26 years) voulenteered her home to host the annual Home Extension Holiday Party. Where a bunch of women from the country celebrate the holidays the only way they know how, with homeade, E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G.

Man I miss the country.

I'm done for now.

TIME FOR SCHOOL!!!

After being irritated that my curriculum for my homeschool was delayed and I wouldn't be able to start by when I wanted, (August 23rd) I resigned myself the fact that I'd be starting later.

I hate being late.

It really makes me angry.

I have a specific schedule and I like sticking to it.

Now if I make myself late I can deal with that and be mad at myself

But when somebody else makes me late.

this is me seething....

However... I found out that it'll be shipped here today.

And all was well in the world.

Last year I had this HUGE project done three weeks ahead of schedule. I felt empowered.

This year, Not so much...

Okay so here's an odd story for you. Feel free to weigh in *no pun intended*.

Back in January, I began to feel the burn.

I worked out very steadily for 3-4 days a week.

I lost no weight.

None.

Zip, Zero, Zilch.

I went home to Oregon for 2 weeks, went on a couple hikes, got some exercize bands did my thang okay?

I came home and have not been to the gym since. May 1st was my last day in the gym.

Sad yes I know. We're going on two weeks.

I've lost 12 pounds. Now I don't look like I've lost it and I've checked out my scale and everything, and sure enough it's accurate.

WTF?

I've lost the faith in working out.

Okay so I added a year to my age and a few to the actual possibliity of having cavities in adult teeth

I had a filling yesterday.

I feel very blessed that I have great teeth.

I feel blessed about everything little thing in my life, good or bad. Why you ask?

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says: Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

I've learned it's the only thing to do when life is so unfair, so horribly horribly sad, and unbearable. It's the only thing that made me stay sane. You may be wondering what I'm talking about but I can't talk about it yet. I can "talk" about it, but writing it all down puts it out there. You know?

God is working on so much in my life right now and one thing in particular I'm curious about. I'll keep you updated.

No I haven't changed my diet that much, just added in healther stuffs and am eating smaller portions. I like what I eat and I refuse to be a slave to unsatisfactory food. The fact that NO exercise was involved the last oh 10 years of my life I figured ANY exercise would be good and I would start shedding SOME weight, I'd be happy with 2 pounds a month.

Healthier

I've been inspired by my cousin's wife. Who weighed over 200 lbs.... she's lost 73 pounds. just with diet and exercise... no fad diets, no crazy anything.... just eating healthier.

I'm so proud.

So as I trudge to the gym everyday I think of how much weight she's lost and her family for that matter. And I kick my butt to lose some myself.

However I've been working out, steadily for 4+ weeks now and have only seen my calves grow in side to the point my boots dont' fit anymore. :(

I'm eating healthier and cutting out all of my snacks... well most of them. I just hope I see the weight loss soon...

Basketball Groupie

You remember when you were in highschool? Pre-pubescent girls flocked to basketball games to see their hottie highschool hunks hooping it up on the court. Young, virle teenage boys and their scrawny legs and arms shooting that orange ball for 2-3 points.

Girls screaming for their team and their favorite players...

which of course were hotties.

Being annoyed at the cheerleaders (if they wern't one) for their stupid halftime routines, because well... the basketball players noticed them in their short skirts. They probably didn't know the difference between a layup or a free throw.... Stupid cheerleaders anyway. (wait.. I was one of them. Oops.) Anyway.

I've realized... not much as changed in my life... except my young virle teenage boy that I probably would have cheered for in highschool, is now a grown man of almost 30 and is still playing the game..

I sit on the sidelines, cheering for my man. Muscled arms and legs shooting that orange ball for 2-3 points.

I've realized... that even though we don't win as often as we'd like (what? Sounds like highschool)

that it is so much more fun... when you actually get to go home with that muscled basketball player,

instead of dreaming unknown dreams about a scrawny highschool player.

God is great, basketball is good... my life is crazy.

I decided after my soap box speech about actually losing weigh this year... I needed to do something about it. I joined this with my husband.

I went 3 miles on the Elliptical on Monday... 2 miles and weights yesterday.

I guess it's better than my regular workout. :D

I ended up going out today... all by my lonesome.

YES!!!

I hit Mall of America first and priced out my "Christmas Present" from my husband. I'm really okay with this as I'm getting a new set of pots and pans. :D Bonus!

Next I went to Le Gourmet Chef and picked up the dutch oven I've been wanting. I thought I wanted Le Creuset really bad, but after I saw this I couldn't get it out of my head.

Off I then strolled to Old Navy to get a handful of things from their clearance section... and a fun pair of "Go-Ga" Pants they're advertising right now for 12 bucks. Fun stuff...

Then I had to suck it up and go to Wal-Mart for groceries... now my sabbatical is over, but at least I got fun stuff. :D

New Years Resolution

Christmas was fabulous.

There just arn't words to describe how blessed I am to have a family who understands the true meaning of Christmas and doesn't get blinded by all of the packages.

I mean we had a lot of packages.

But on top of it, first and foremost my children know it's Christ's birthday.

I'm so blesssed.

We celebrated with family on the Eve. Which was also a blessing as there has been a family feud for the past 6 months, that was sucessfully set aside for Christmas and everybody came together to celebrate.... EVERYBODY.....EVERYBODY....

Yup all 16 kids and 15 adults....

Wow we've got a big family.

God is Great. Life is good. Kids make me crazy.... LOL!

I'm irritated that my husband isn't home. He hasn't been home since Thursday. He won't be home until *next* Tuesday or so.

I'm suceeding for the most part.

I'm taking it out on the snow when I shovel it.

I'm missing my husband.

So my bestie came home Friday night.

I can't even put into words what that means.

This was my world...

It was still mostly there, and the blessings were HUGE in it. How could I feel that lacking with my family around me... but she was gone for 10 weeks.

SO much happened... so much that I wanted my BFF here for. I needed her here for...

So many times I needed a shoulder to cry on, a shopping spree gone wild, a friend to just listen and not add the extra .02 I wasn't looking for. Someone to understand me without me speaking a word.

There just arn't enough words to help me explain what was missing.

We hung out last night for the firs time.

We decorated my Christmas tree, ate good food, and vegged on the couch watching White Christmas.

All is good in the world.

Mall of America and the Pioneer Woman

First of all let me just say.

Ree Drummond Rocks.

I went to see her at Mall of America on Saturday.

I waited in line for 5 hours to see her.

You're wondering who she is right?

She is one of the coolest ladies I know and I swear we could be sisters. Or something. Not in a stalker sort of way.

She is a city girl, who fell in love, moved to the country and fell in love with it.

I'm a country girl who fell in love, moved to the city, and now my guy and I are trying to get moved back out to the country that we love.

She homeschools.

I homeschoool.

She cooks.

I cook.

There are a lot of other similarites but the most is that she has this wicked sweet cookbook out, of which I stood in line for 5 hours to get signed.

Everything in it, from the recipes to the anticdotes, I love. I connect with.

She rocks.

I would have liked to have had a few more seconds, that's right seconds, with her, but when over 500 people came to see her, I couldn't be greedy. I just hope she likes the stuff I gave her. Pre-Thanksgiving

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving.

Duh right?

Well today I'm crazy busy with other stuff besides the rat race of getting turkey stuffs ready. I have homeschool with the kids until noon, a Chiro appt at 1:30, then more homeschool stuffs starting at 3, when my nieces and newphew come over for craft time.

Their mom isn't big into crafts and well... I am. So we hang out, do crafts and visit. It's a good excuse.

I like good excuses for things.

Like when I purposly wear "owie" shoes so I can buy new ones.

Come on, who HASN'T done that?...

So today we're working on Christmas presents.

Not sure exactly what yet, but it should be fun. I'm pretty sure with all the extra crafty crap I have laying around we'll find something useful to do with it.

So the cake turned out.

And the kitchen is now 90% clean.

Today is another day however it is a very full day.

Alright, so these are my new favorite thing...

Today I will be drinking multiple of these.

And then I will be going to bed when the sun goes down... which these days is around 4.

But this morning, with my first sip of go go juice... my body sighs and all is good in the world.

Here's what I'm drinking.

It's like an orgasm in a decent sized to-go cup that you don't throw away... Life is good day... Life is good today.

Today is Sunday.

I'd rather be veggin until Church tonight.

However I'm working on cake.

My hands hurt and I feel like I'm going to puke.

I'm not ill. I just think I ate too much frosting.

It's pretty much done. And after it is, I want to go and crawl back into bed. But no such luck. I have to then beautify the rest of my familiy so we can go to the reception where I will then set up said cake. I hope it makes the ride. I can't imagaine. OY.

I'm thinking today is going to be a much needed coffee day... I just hope my stomach can handle it.

November on the Ranch

I was thinking this morning about November back home. Obviously this picture is not not in November. Much to green. Yes this is the extent of green in Eastern Oregon. Field stay mostly nice, mountains are dry as dirt.

I was thinking about it though, and about how on a November morning I would probably be getting up bright and early to go work cows. It was about the time to do preg-testing which entailed corral work. Fun stuff actually. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Course I wasn't the one stickin my arm up Bessie's Hoo Haw either. LOL

My mom would make potato soup and grilled cheese sandiwiches for lunch. We'd come home covered in... well you can guess. Regailing the tails of the corral enough to have mom getting up and leaving the table. She doesn't have a weak stomach. She just didn't care to hear about it all.

For the record the only picture that is mine, from my ranch is the top one. The others are the other lucky bastards who are still fortunate enough to live on a a ranch.

I miss it so much.

Getting dirty.
Working hard.
Staying physically fit.

Working on a ranch, you don't have the option to sit on your butt eating bon bons.

You're working hard, on the ground, in the saddle busting your butt.

I think the thing I regret the most about my life on the ranch, besides the fact I'm not still there... I never took a camera with me to take the pictures I now have to search for on Google. Hoping something will capture a bit of what I had back home.

So I'm making a sister in law a reception cake...

Funny thing was she asked me to do it first, but then when I told her I was flattered that she chose me since our other sister in law is a pastry chef, she kicked me to the curb. She asked the pastry chef SIL if she'd do it... Funny thing is, now she's stuck back with me because my PCSIL can't stand to do reception/wedding cakes. LOL! I found this funny.

This is the inspiration... I just hope what I make doesn't land on cakewrecks. LOL!

Garbage Can Saga

So I bought a new garbage can today. Now I know. Woo pity do right? Well here’s the deal. I’ve hated the garbage can I had for YEARS.10 to be exact, I bought it when T and I first got our 1st apartment in Brooklyn Park, STOP! GHETTO TIME! uh oh uh oh uh oh… Did you ever come to that apartment? I didn’t let many people in as I was ashamed of our two folding chairs folding table, and 3 TV trays we had for furniture. The fact I didn’t have a vacuum or anything (or that I didn’t vacuum until two weeks before we moved out because That’s when we bought a vacuum) It was scary there. The only good thing I got out of it was a killer red sauce recipe from my scary tattooed maintenance man who was a full blooded Italian from Jersey.

Anyway back to the now Garbage Can Saga… Dun Dun DUN!

Okay so I hated this garbage can. It’s blue, I’m sure you remember how much I love the color blue. Stupid I know, how can somebody not like a color right? Whatever. So, the thing I hate most about it, besides the fact that it’s blue is the fact that no garbage sacks actually fit it. Now I know what you’re thinking, it’s for lack of actually looking for the correct garbage sack size. NO IT”S NOT! Seriously! They all say Tall Kitchen Bags. None of them fit and when you put something remotely heavy in it, the stupid thing sinks to the bottom therein leaving a gap at the top that inevitably folds in and let me tell you. A 7, 5, and 2 year old do NOT know how to pull that stupid flap back up to avoid getting food or WHATEVER all down around it. It is not a family friendly garbage can.

(just for the record, I never thought that this stupid garbage can story would actually take up more than 2 sentences, LOL But what the hey, it’s keeping you entertained.)

So today I buy a garbage can that will actually fit the size of Garbage Bags that T had found on clearance (what? NO!) at Home Depot. We have like 6 boxes of these (90 in each) so I think I’m set for a while. I get home and joyously put out the new garbage can (it’s white). It’s short. … um… ew. So I get the little stool that the kids used to use in the bathroom to set it up on so that I have a taller garbage can. Guess what? The stool is blue. FOR THE LOVE OF PETE! (who’s pete?) Can I NOT get away from the color blue? WTFUHHH UH UH UH!!!! <= whining. J So I set the old sucker over by the back door so that I can maybe use it downstairs in my laundry room. It’s sitting by the boot basket and keeps tipping over, no big I’ll get it downstairs. But first.. Wait for it. T gets annoyed with it. “So uh, K, What’s going on with this old garbage can here?”… I don’t know what you mean, I’m not using it in my kitchen anymore. “ Yeah but it’s in the way; what are you planning on doing with it?” Woo sah. Um well I’m going to use it downstairs in the laundry room probably. “Well don’t you think you should move it? It’s kinda in the way here.” *picture steam actually coming out my ears* Okay honey, have a good workout. Looooove you. *shuts door calmly* (you’d be oh so proud) But through my head runs this dialog…: WTF IS HE SERIOUSLY THINIKING? THE FACT THAT THAT STUPID GARBAGE CAN WAS SLIGHTLY IN HIS Fing WAY AND HE IS PISSED ABOUT IT, It’s kinda annoying K? ARE YOU Fing KIDDING ME, HOW MUCH S~ DO YOU BRING IN THIS HOUSE FELLA ND I HAVE TO MOVE A GARBAGE CAN BECAUSE YOU THINK ITS “KINDA ANNOYING?” I MOST OF THE TIME CANNOT GET OUT MY FRONT DOOR OR EVEN MY BACK DOOR IF I WANT TO MAKE A STRIAGHT SHOT FROM THE KITCHEN TO THE BACK DOOR AND YOU’RE GETTING PISSY AND WHINEY ABOUT A Fing GARBAGE CAN…?????>>>>!>>!>>!>!>>!)($#%*)($%#*@)($%* REALLY? SERIOUSLY? DUDE!!!!!!!

My sister is away at Basic Training.

She's not really my sister. I'm an only child.

She's the closest thing to a sister I have.

I miss her horribly.

I can't imagine her being gone all the time.

I'm praying for our troops and their families.

Thank you soldiers past, present and future. You are all my heroes.

Just Getting Started

One thinks that when they start a blog they will continue to be faithful to keeping it up. At least that is their good intentions. The problem with me is that as much as I want to keep up my other blog, I am hesitant because I feel the need to edit myself for it. To many people read it that would probably disapprove of some of the rantings I have.

Not this blog.

Today I start fresh with my own rambling, a place to vent, and maybe a few tips to throw out into the void.
